Integrative Therapy

Integrative Therapy

I believe that traditional therapy has been the foundation for the many new modalities in this century; therapy has adapted to modern times and the key focus has now become more person-centred. The idea of sitting opposite to a much older man or woman, with reading glasses resting perfectly on the bridge of his or her nose in a library theme designed room is now fading. Instead, therapy has revolutionised and has become easily accessible in today’s society, through simple online engagement, Gone are the days of waiting on a list or having to go through the extensive paperwork of ticking a box to diagnose the way of feeling as an illness; therapy has become more integrative due to the combination of a range of therapies tailored to the individuals needs.

Therapist Graham Thomas explains that integrative therapy combines different approaches to psychotherapy and does not restrict itself to one school of thought. For me, therapy is a bespoke endeavour based on a notion of shared exploration. The enquiry, which is both supportive and challenging is unique with each client. Nothing arrives off the shelf pre-packaged or pre-configured.- Talk Yourself Better – Ariane Sherine
